01

Stop in the safest available place

Reduce speed smoothly, avoid sharp steering and move away from live traffic where possible. Use hazard lights when appropriate. On a high-speed road, follow official roadside safety guidance and wait behind a barrier if you can reach one safely.

02

Do not keep driving to protect the tyre

Driving on a tyre with little or no pressure can damage the sidewall and wheel. A puncture that may have been repairable can quickly become a replacement. Stop once you have reached the safest practical position.

03

Collect the information a technician needs

Share your live location or map pin, vehicle registration, tyre position and a photo of the tyre sidewall. Mention a missing locking wheel nut key, restricted car park access or any visible wheel damage.

04

Understand repair versus replacement

Tread-area punctures may be repairable after inspection. Sidewall damage, large holes, exposed cords, severe wear and tyres driven flat generally require replacement. A proper assessment is safer than relying on a temporary plug or sealant.

05
